annamoe bluebells in spring 2007

Hi!, Thanks for visiting my Annamoe website.

I live in a small Village called Annamoe in the Wicklow Mountains in Ireland.
You can find Annamoe on Google Maps here.
Annamoe is rather small with little more than an antique shop, a tea room and a trout fishery. The Wicklow Way runs through the area and its very popular with cyclists and hill walkers alike.

Annamoe village itself is about 185 meters in elevation and is surrounded on all sides by hills and mountains. The nearest coast is about 12km to the east.

On average its about 1-2°C cooler than nearby Dublin, but this varies quite a bit depending on the weather.
In winter the difference can be much higher due to katabatic winds coming off the local hills and mountains and in summer it's often warmer than the coast despite its elevation due to onshore breezes having warmed up considerably by the time they reach here.

If you plan on walking in the nearby mountains, the excellent Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team website has up to date weather forecasts as well as news and contact details, it's well worth checking out. The guys on the team do fantastic work and volunteer their own time and resources to saving hillwalkers lives.

wireless vantage davis pro used to upload to this site The weather station that updates this site is a Wireless Davis Vantage Pro with 24 hour fan aspirated shield.
The receiver then sends the signal via serial port to an old Compaq desktop pc.
Weatherlink software then ftp's up the data every 10 minutes and updates the site automatically.

The webcam I use is Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000 which looks out the kitchen window onto the garden behind. I use the excellent freeware "Fwink" software to automatically ftp a webcam snapshot to the site every two minutes.
In front of the cam I have a GND filter which helps bring out the sky features as well as the grass as initially all I was getting was a whitewashed sky effect which defeated the purpose of a weather cam.
If you like the site or have any comments or suggestions please leave me a message on the Guestbook, its always nice to get feedback!

first sing of annamoe driving on R755 First hint you are about to enter the Village is a almost hidden sign on the left of the road as you head towards the bridge.

view of the bridge over the avonmore river Coming up to the 50KM zone signs you meet the bridge. which goes over Avonmore river. This is a popular spot at weekends for adventurous canoeists to meet up and start their journey downstream.
Annamoe Trout Fishery is just over the bridge on the right. People spend long summer days there fishing and having BBQ's on the grounds weather permitting.

busy saturday in annamoe! The village center really is just Annamoe Antiques (big car parked in front here when I took this picture) and Roses Tea Room ,it's pretty quiet with the occasional cyclist and car passing through.
leaving annamoe heading towards laragh and glendalough Just past the antique shop the road veers sharply left and continues toward Laragh and Glendalough which are about 5km and 6km down the down the road respectfully.
